Several microbreweries have opened up in Shanghai in recent years, and this is the best of the bunch. With two locations in Shanghai—one on Hongmei Lu in Hongqiao and the other in the former French Concession—Shanghai Brewery serves up six kinds of microbrews that are brewed onsite — alongside special seasonal beers — and great burgers and other bar fare, including Mexican and German food, such as fajitas, bangers and mash and pork knuckle. (The executive chef worked at a Michelin-starred restaurant in the UK.) The French Concession location occupies a sprawling two floors with big-screen televisions and a movie-theater-like screen for really big events, along with private event spaces for functions.
