A classy Singaporean chain, Crystal Jade promiscuously borrows from regional cuisines across the nation. The dining room of their Xintiandi branch somehow blends glam decor with a relaxed food-court feel and serves up some of the best xiaolong bao (steamed dumplings with broth) in town. Other perennial favorites include spicy Sichuanese la mian (hand-pulled noodles), and the sweet charsiu bao buns beloved of the Cantonese. The place becomes packed on Sundays for its legendary dim sum brunch. Reserve in advance or risk a long wait. There are two other brances in Shanghai, one in the nearby Hong Kong New World Plaza (North Block) at 300 Huaihai Zhong Lu.
