With the towers of Siena beckoning in the near distance, a pool glimmering in the garden, and lots of quiet corners nestled on a hillside planted with olive trees, this beautiful estate seems like a slice of heaven. Hosts Franco and Franca (Frances) Mugnai created this earthly paradise out of their ancestral home; the richly hued rooms and suites are accented with family pieces and decorated with quirky charm—Moroccan fabrics in one, a rose theme in another, all tucked away in old stone farm buildings. A hearty made-to-order breakfast is served in the garden; in bad weather the day begins in a lounge fashioned out of the old limonaia (lemon house), filled with kilims and vibrant art. There’s a 2-night minimum stay, and guests must be at least 18 years old.
