Right on the outskirts of Sintra, in the satellite district São Pedro de Sintra, stands this traditional restaurant heavily patronized by local residents. Known for its regional cookery and fair prices, it is a typical tavern. Fish and shellfish are the most popular items -- hake quenelles, prawn crêpes, or baked salmon among the favorites. Meats are well chosen, and the kitchen is especially known for its entrecôtes, which come in a variety of ways ranging from grilled to mushrooms and cream. Barbecued pork steaks are another favorite item, as is a specialty of the Alentejo region, savory pork with clams. Many diners start with the green cabbage soup.
