ME Sitges Terramar

The trendy ME by Meliá brand has overhauled what was formerly the hulking 1960s-era beachfront Terramar Hotel, breathing some much-needed contemporary design into Sitges’ rather tired hotel landscape. It feels like a bit of Miami in the midst of the Mediterranean, with playful yet elegant decor and a youthful (albeit well-heeled) vibe. The rooftop bar with panoramic sea and Sitges views is one of the hottest nightlife scenes in town during summer, which means you might want to avoid upper-level rooms if you crave sleep. Both outdoor pools are pleasant with ocean breezes, while a protected cove just across the street is ideal for swimming, sunning, and cocktailing at the hotel’s seasonal beach club. Nearly all the sleekly decorated, minimalist rooms have sea views; opt for one with a balcony if you can afford it. Also splurge for the breakfast, with a buffet that sprawls across three rooms. The hotel is a 20-minute stroll along the promenade to the center of town.
