This 1834 church with wooden gables, turf roof, and thick sod walls has a simple, elemental quality that charms many visitors. The interior has little architectural detail to speak of, however, beyond some ornamental carving and closed pews up front for prominent families. The 1616 altar painting, probably Danish, is a Last Supper exhibiting the character exaggeration of folk art: Judas holds a moneybag. The pulpit is probably from the 17th century, but the paint has mostly worn off.
