Getting There -- All sights in this section are arrayed on or near Route 1 and can be reached by regular car. Skógar is 155km (96 miles) from Reykjavík, and Vík is 31km (19 miles) farther. In summer five daily buses connect Reykjavík and Skógar (3,200kr/$51/£26), and four daily buses connect Reykjavík and Vík (3,800kr/$61/£30). Visitor Information -- The regional tourist office at Hveragerði covers this area. In Skógar, limited tourist information can be found at the folk museum, and at the Fossbúð market en route to Skógafoss. In Vík, the information center is in the Brydebúð Museum, Víkurbraut 28 (tel. 487-1395; http://brydebud.vik.is), open June 15 to September 15 from 10am to 1:30pm and 2:30 to 5pm.
