Restaurants in Skogar, Vik and Myrdalsjokull

Several accommodations listed have recommendable restaurants. Country Hotel Anna, west of Skógar, is open for dinner from mid-June through August, from 7 to 8:30pm; main courses are in the 2,100kr to 2,900kr ($34-$46/£17-£23) range and include fish, lamb, and schnitzel. Hotel Höfðabrekka, east of Vík, has a dinner buffet from 7 to 9pm for 3,500kr ($56/£28); selections usually include lamb, smoked and steam-boiled salmon, and whale. No advance reservation is necessary for either spot.

In Skógar, the cafeteria at the folk museum is open daily mid-May through September from 10am to 5pm. Next to the folk museum, the Edda Hotel (tel. 444-4830) serves lunch from noon to 2pm and a serviceable buffet from 7 to 9pm for 3,400kr ($54/£27). Near the waterfall, Fossbúð (tel. 487-8843) serves soup, pasta, pizza, and burgers. The restaurant at Hotel Skógar is the choicest option, with a small menu of fish and lamb courses averaging 3,500kr ($56/£18). It's open from 8am to 10pm, and reservations are recommended for dinner.
