Walnut Grove Plantation
A short drive south from Spartanburg is this excellent example of a colonial plantation house--not the stately columned style typical of the Low Country, but a large, simple farmhouse typical of landowners' homes in this region. Built in 1765 on a land grant to Charles Moore from King George III, the house has been restored and authentically furnished with pieces from before 1830. The property also features a smokehouse, doctor's office, family cemetery, schoolhouse, herb and flower garden, and nature trail.
