Adjoining Diocletian’s Palace to the west lies Split’s medieval quarter, built mainly when Dalmatia was under Venetian rule. Here you will find Narodni Trg (aka Pjaca), now regarded as the city’s main square. An expanse of white marble paving, it is rimmed with busy cafés, and overlooked by the 15th-century Town Hall, with its ground floor loggia comprised of Venetian-Gothic arches.
