Hotel Marmont

In the pedestrian-only Old Town, a short distance outside the walls of Diocletian’s Palace, Hotel Marmont is smart and comfortable, though maybe slightly lacking in soul. Occupying a restored 15th-century building, it opened as a hotel in 2008. All the rooms have king-size beds and oak floors, fabrics in creams and browns, and spacious bathrooms. On the down side, the views are minimal—in the densely packed Old Town, you’re basically looking onto neighboring buildings. May, 2014 saw the addition of a new ground floor bar-restaurant, with sliding floor-to-ceiling glass that opens directly onto the street in summer.
