Spoleto is a main rail station on the Rome-Ancona line, and 16 daily trains from Rome stop here (about 1.5 hr.). From Perugia, take one of the 20 daily trains to Foligno (25 min.) to transfer to this line for the final 20-minute leg. From outside the station, you can take bus A, B, or C to Piazza Carducci on the edge of the old town, but it’s an easy 10-minute walk.

By car, approach town on the old Roman Via Flaminia, now the SS3. Three lots/garages are at the base of the hill: Spoletosfera, Posterna, and Ponzianina are all connected to sights in the old town above via escalators, moving sidewalks, and elevators. Parking is about 1€ per hour; take a ticket upon entering and pay in a machine upon leaving. Hotels will help you arrange long-term parking.
