Start by taking a walk along the promenade to watch the sunset. Around place Louis-XIV, you’ll find a hotbed of activity at the cafes and bars. If you’re here over the summer, head to Chez Renauld, 4 bd. Victor Hugo (tel. 05-59-51-31-30), a pop-up bar from June to October. There might not be too many more seasons here for this fun bar, as there are plans to develop the spot. Another summer pop-up that is almost certain to stick around a little longer is Le Middle, from chef Jean-Pascal Lacoste, up on Chemin de la Digue, Pointe Sainte Barbe (tel. 06-24-48-11-83). DJs or live music most evenings over the summer provide the backdrop to incredible views over the bay. Excellent food is available during the day, but this is pretty much the perfect spot as the sun goes down.
