Getting There

One train per hour (some express) arrives in St. Johann by way of Kitzbühel from Innsbruck (trip time: 1 1/4 hr.) and Salzburg (trip time: 2 3/4 hr.). Some trains from Salzburg require a transfer in the railway junction of Schwarzach-St. Veit. For rail information, contact tel. 05/1717 (www.oebb.at). You can also take one of the half-dozen buses that run every day between St. Johann and Kitzbühel (30 min.). For bus or train information in Kitzbühel, call tel. 05356/64055. Buses also pull into St. Johann from Salzburg several times a day, stopping first at Kitzbühel (trip time: 1 3/4 hr.).

St. Johann lies 399km (248 miles) west of Vienna, 90km (56 miles) east of Innsbruck, and 90km (56 miles) southwest of Munich. If you're driving from Innsbruck, follow the A12 east to the junction with Route 312, which you take east to St. Johann.

Visitor Information

The tourist office, Poststrasse 2 (tel. 05352/633350; www.st.johann.tirol.at), in the town center, is open Monday to Friday 8:30am to noon and 2 to 6pm, and Saturday 9am to noon.
