Seaside Seabird Sanctuary
An avian hospital whose small team of staff and volunteers care for approximately 3,500 birds a year, Seaside Seabird Sanctuary, located on 1.5 acres of beachfront property, also has around 80 permanent resident birds, all who have permanent injuries and cannot be released back into the wild, including bald eagle, screech owl, great horned owl, barn owl, red-tailed hawk, American Kestrel, vultures, peregrine falcon, and pelicans. There’s also an environmental education center focusing on Florida’s marine and estuarine environments with eel, burrfish, and more. Watch as they hand feed pelicans daily at 2:30pm or, on Saturday from noon to 4pm volunteers conduct informative and entertaining Birds of Prey demos.
