Getting Around St. Pete and Clearwater Beaches

The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority/PSTA (727/530-9911) runs the Suncoast Beach Trolley which stretches from Clearwater Beach south to Indian Rocks Beach, Indian Shores, Redington Shores, North Redington Beach, Redington Beach, Madeira Beach, John’s Pass Village, St. Pete Beach and Pass-a-Grille.  Take a short ride to one particular beach, shopping area or restaurant, or travel the entire route to get a view of some scenic Gulf Coast communities (you can hop on and off along the way). Trolleys arrive at each stop every 20 to 30 minutes between 5:20am and midnight. Fares are $2.25. Children 5 and under ride free.

Along the beach, the major cab company is BATS Taxi (tel. 727/367-3702). Fares start at $5.

Visitor Information for St. Pete and Clearwater Beaches

In addition to VisitStPeteClearwater.com, visit StPeteBeach.org for info on fishing piers, parks, beaches, tours, and more.  The Clearwater Visitor Information Center, on Pier 60 Park, 399 Mandalay Ave. (tel. 727/331-1890) is open from 9am to 8pm Monday through Friday.

Getting Around

The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority/PSTA (tel. 727/530-9911; www.psta.net) operates motorized trolley service along Gulf Boulevard (Fla. 699) between the Hurricane restaurant in St. Pete Beach and the Sheraton Sand Key Resort (the one-way trip takes about an hour), where it connects with the Suncoast Beach Trolley (tel. 727/445-1200), which continues on Gulf Boulevard through Clearwater Beach. The PSTA trolley runs daily, every 20 minutes from 5am to 10pm, until midnight on Friday and Saturday. Rides cost $1.75, or you can buy a daily pass for $4. Call for schedules, or pick up printed copies at the Gulf Beaches of Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce.
