Florida Holocaust Museum
This moving, thought-provoking museum has exhibits about the Holocaust (Jewish life before the Holocaust, the rise of the Nazi party, and so on), including a boxcar used to transport human cargo to Auschwitz and a gallery of art relating to the Holocaust. Its main focus, however, is to promote tolerance and understanding in the present. It was founded by Walter P. Loebenberg, a local businessman who escaped Nazi Germany in 1939 and fought with the U.S. Army in World War II. The museum underwent a renovation in 2024 to make room for the permanent home of the Elie Wiesel collection, featuring his Nobel Prize, the entire contents of his personal office and library, unfinished manuscripts, letters from world leaders, art, photos, and never-heard-before recordings.
