Mayakovsky calls itself the "intelligent café and bar," dutifully upholding St. Petersburg's rep as an intellectual city. The dimly lit bar, decorated in the belle-epoch style, with velvet drapes and chandeliers, has become a hangout for local bohemians. Cocktails are the main thing here: the drinks are made following the principles of Mayakovsky's avant-garde poetry—innovative, unique, Russian. House-infused vodkas made with berries, spices, and vegetables are used as bases for classic cocktails, and new drinks are often dreamed up here, too. The bar also serves a selection of light and upscale dishes, including foie gras with figs and duck breast with mango. It's cash only.
