The Metro Club, perhaps the most famous club in St. Petersburg, is also one of the biggest in Europe. Unlike most of the city's other clubs, which are housed in basements or former bomb shelters, this one has its own multilevel and very modern building, with neon lights, lasers, and platforms for go-go dancers. The party here rages every night of the week, so there's no need to wait for the weekend: it's always packed, more often than not with younger women and older men. Four nights a week the third floor becomes a strip club after 1:30 am, with "Sex in the Big City," an erotic show with both male and female dancers. The Matoff Brewery on the second floor serves German beer that's brewed on the premises using traditional recipes and methods. Wednesday, which is student night, is best avoided.
