Getting There -- Buses depart from the railway station of Bad Ischl about a dozen times a day, making stops at both the marketplace (St. Wolfgang Marktplatz) and the base of the Schafbergbahn (St. Wolfgang Schafberg Rack Railway). Trip time to either is about 40 minutes.

If you're driving from Salzburg, take Route 158 east. From Linz, head southwest on the A-1; then cut southwest at the junction with Route 145 to Bad Ischl. From Bad Ischl, continue west on Route 158.

Visitor Information -- The St. Wolfgang tourist office (tel. 06138/2239; www.wolfgangsee.at) is in the town center. It's open in winter Monday to Friday 9am to noon and 2 to 5pm, Saturday 9am to noon; in summer Monday to Friday from 9am to 8pm, Saturday 9am to noon and 2 to 6pm, Sunday 1 to 6pm.
