Golf -- Don't miss New Zealand's only registered 6-hole golf course at Ringaringa Heights, overlooking Ringaringa Beach. Greens fees are NZ$10 for two people, which may well make it the cheapest golf course in the world. Club rentals are available at Stewart Island Flight Depot (tel. 03/219-1090) for NZ$5.

Hunting -- The elusive American whitetail deer was liberated on Stewart Island in the early 1900s and now provides sport for the energetic hunter. Skin Diving & Fishing -- You'll immediately notice how clear the seawater is around Stewart Island, making it ideal for diving.
