This is a big, hyper-modern design hotel within walking distance of the Central Station and the Arlanda Express airport train. It opened in 2008, filling in the empty space between the train tracks and Norra Bantorget, and is Stockholm's largest lodging with 558 rooms. Its sign may look like a Federation starship from the outside, but it devotes its inside to classic Scandinavian design, with each floor themed after a different Nordic country. Room interiors feature crisp white walls, oversized black and white photo prints, and bold accent colors on the throw pillows and curtains. They're quiet, comfortable and feature excellent beds. Celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson has lent his name to the American Table restaurant on the bottom floor, to mixed reviews from foodies. For a guaranteed surreal experience, slip into the swimming pool on the roof during a snowy evening.
