Stowe's favorite red-sauce joint since 1986, Trattoria La Festa is the type of place you can take both your over-active toddler and your picky mother-in-law, pleasing all (including the surrounding customers; this is not the type of restaurant where anyone gets shushed). The food is hearty and honest—lasagnas, linguine with clam sauce, osso bucco, you know the drill. The farmhouse-like setting  (think: red checked oilcloth, lots of knickknacks and dark wood) is always bustling with big family groups. And the welcome customers get will make you feel like a regular, even if its your first time here.

Unlike most restaurants in town, Trattoria La Festa does take-out, if you'd prefer to eat where you're lodging (you do have to get your order in between 3 and 5pm though).
