Getting There

By Plane -- Most conventional air traffic flies into Karlstad airport, 70km (43 miles) south of Sunne. From there, you can take regional bus no. 302 into the center of Karlstad or continue the remaining 70km (43 miles) into the center of Sunne.

By Train -- Four or five trains arrive daily on the 4 1/2-hour trip from Stockholm, and from Gothenburg there are another four or five trains a day, which take 3 2/3 hours. You always have to change trains in Kil, and sometimes in Hallsberg, depending on the train. From Oslo there are two trains per day, requiring a change in Kil; trip time is 3 to 4 hours. For more information, call tel. 771/75-75-75.

By Bus -- If you're traveling from Stockholm, take the train. The bus trip is too complicated and has too many transfers. From Gothenburg, one bus a day arrives Monday through Friday on the 7 1/4-hour trip; transfer in Karlstad. Both the train and the bus stations are in the town center. Call tel. 0200/21-82-18 for schedules.

By Car -- Drive north along routes 61 or 45 from Karlstad.
