Getting There

By Air -- Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR), 2001 Airport Blvd., Syracuse (tel. 315/454-4330; www.syrairport.org), 10 minutes from downtown, is serviced by American, Air Canada, Continental, Delta, JetBlue, Northwest, United, and US Airways. Century Transportation (tel. 315/455-5151) provides taxi and van service at Syracuse Hancock International Airport. There are five major car-rental agencies at the airport.

By Car -- Syracuse is located at the intersection of two major highways: Interstate 81, running north-south, and the New York State Thruway, I-90, running east-west.

By Bus -- Greyhound and Trailways stop in Syracuse at the Regional Transportation Center, 130 P and C Pkwy., Syracuse (tel. 315/472-4421 or 315/472-5338).

By Train -- Amtrak (tel. 800/USA-RAIL; www.amtrak.com) travels to Syracuse from New York City, Buffalo, Boston, and other cities. The Regional Transportation Center is located at 130 P and C Pkwy.

Getting Around

OnTrack City Express trains (tel. 315/424-1212) run from Syracuse University to the main station at Armory Square, 269 W. Jefferson St., and Carousel Center mall. Trains operate Wednesday to Sunday, 11:25am to 6:20pm (in summer Fri-Sun); tickets are $1.50 one-way (pay as you board).

CENTRO buses (tel. 315/685-7075; www.centro.org; $1.25) travel to Skaneateles and Auburn.

Visitor Information

The principal font of tourism information is the Syracuse Convention and Visitors Bureau, 572 S. Salina St. (tel. 800/234-4797 or 315/470-1910; www.visitsyracuse.org). The Syracuse Urban Cultural Park Visitor Center, 318 Erie Blvd. E (within Erie Canal Museum; tel. 315/471-0593), offers guided tours of downtown for $2.
