I love the mellow, cross-generational scene at Brown Sugar. It seems to attract both locals and ex-pats in equal numbers and the crowd ranges from about 22 to 82 years of age, with everyone mingling with ease. The music will vary by the night: Tuesday is Taiwanese, and on other nights you might encounter an Argentinian tango trio, a jazz quartet, or a swing band. On many nights, folks get up to dance—the handsomely appointed room seems to be channeling the dance clubs of the 1940s. If you get hungry, the food's not half-bad, either. Note : The entrance to the club is at the back of a large skyscraper.
