Alfred B. McClay Gardens State Park

Spring in Tallahassee means a pilgrimage to this collection of ornamental gardens. Planted with azaleas, dogwood, magnolias, tulips, irises and other flowering pants, the show come April is enthralling. There are many nooks and crannies to explore, but our favorite is their “secret garden”, which can be hard to find, but worth the search. Bring the kids: along with the gardens, and financier McClay’s summer home to explore (decorated as it would have been in the 1920’s), there are swimming and boating facilities here,  a playground, and 11 miles of wooded trails.
