The acronym stands for “Boutique on a Budget” and that’s just what you get here: a lodging that’s high on whimsy, low on cost. It’s part of a very small, and very new, international collection of hotels that’s trying to disrupt the market with such cost-saving strategies as self check in for guests, and rooms with a lot of graphic elements (swirly patterned rugs, cheeky art on the walls) that never change hotel to hotel. Except for the rainbow hued pillows that say the name of the destination, that is. Somehow it all feels fun and young rather than annoying, which may be partially because of the top quality amenities like smart TV’s, a specialty coffee shop in the lobby and genuinely sleepable beds. And who doesn’t enjoy lighting that looks like collections of mylar balloons, illuminating a lobby with neon colored fake cacti?
