Getting to Tallahassee


American, Delta, and JetBlue serve Tallahassee International Airport (tel. 850/891-7800), 10 miles southwest of downtown on Southeast Capital Circle. All of the major rental car companies have desks here.

You can take a taxi downtown for about $30.

Getting Around Tallahassee


The city’s public-transportation agency, StarMetro (tel. 850/891-5200), provides city bus service from its downtown terminal, at Tennessee and Adams streets ($1.25 adults, 60[ce] seniors and kids 12 and under). The ticket booths there and at the Tallahassee Area Visitor Information Center have route maps and schedules. Some routes have free Wi-Fi.

For taxi service, contact Yellow Cab (tel. 850/850-9999). Fares are about $3 at flag fall, plus $2.50 per mile. Uber and Lyft are also available, with similar rates.

Tallahassee is in the Eastern Time zone, like Orlando, Miami, and Apalachicola. It’s 1 hour ahead of the rest of the Panhandle.

Visit Tallahassee, 918 Railroad Ave. (tel. 850/606-2305) has a visitor center and gift shop that's open Monday–Friday from 9am to 5pm, Saturday from 10am to 2pm.

For statewide information, a Florida Welcome Center is in the plaza level of The Capitol at 400 S. Monroe St. (tel. 850/488-6167).
