Hotel Haya Ybor City

Named for Ybor City’s first cigar roller, Ignacio Haya, this hotel’s mission is to reflect and celebrate the character and culture of Ybor City, and it more than succeeds. Set in a historic brick building, many rooms have wood tiled floors (like those on the streets of Havana), ovoid lamps reminiscent of the area’s street lamps, and abstract paintings by local artist Kristin Texeia. She’s just one of the many local artisans represented at the hotel’s décor, and much of the food and drink served here. Guestrooms have walkout balconies overlooking a bustling street, and the pool area is command central for DJs, pop-ups, and assorted “activations” which bring in the area’s young and beautiful set. Dining options include the Latin and Mediterranean-inspired Flor Fina, and contemporary Cuban-inspired coffee shop Café Quiquiriquí. The Haya is an evocative place to stay.
