Taos Cow
What could inspire skiers fresh off the mountain to stop for ice cream in Arroyo Seco? Taos Cow, that's what, a café that's been churning out all-natural, hormone-free ice cream since 1993, in flavors like maple walnut, piñon caramel, café ole (coffee with cinnamon and dark chocolate), and buffalo chip (vanilla with dark chocolate-covered coffee beans). But this spot offers more than just cones; you can also fuel up with an espresso or hot chocolate, grab a breakfast burrito for the road, or sit down for a fresh brie and turkey sandwich or quiche of the day. This is one of my must-stops on the way to the slopes or hiking trails—or on the way back.
