A number of places advertise with a Tarangire address but are actually located well outside the park, where dust clouds are far more likely to be Maasai cattle being herded to the riverbed than thirsting buffalo or wildebeest. Most are around a 20-minute drive from the main entrance gate, usually along a rutted track, which makes for a later start to your game drive than ideal. Also, having to enter through the main gate every time you want to enter the park puts you in the thick of the safari traffic, which can be busy, given that Tarangire can be done as a day trip from Arusha. It's true that accommodations options outside the park can offer night drives, which are not allowed in Tarangire, but these are seldom that productive. With the exception of Tarangire Treetops, which is included because the accommodation is so attractive, I strongly urge you to stay inside the park.
