Getting There

Regular service from both Bari and Brindisi is provided by the FS and FSE train lines. Trains leave Bari about once an hour for Taranto; the trip takes 1 1/2 to 2 hours and costs 6.80€ ($9.85). For 5€ ($7.25), you can take the hour-long ride from Brindisi; trains leave every 2 hours. The station is on the western outskirts of town; from there, you take a bus or taxi into the center. Three bus companies -- FSE, SITA, and CTP -- provide service to Taranto. From Bari, take the FSE bus, departing every 2 hours. The trip takes from 1 to 2 hours and costs 5.70€ ($8). Call tel. 800-079090 for information and schedules.

If you have a car, take A14 here from Bari; E90 comes in from Brindisi, and Route 7 makes the trek west from Lecce.

Visitor Information

The tourist office is at Corso Umberto I 121, near Piazza Garibaldi (tel. 099-4532392). It's open Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm and 4:30 to 6:30pm, and Saturday from 9am to noon.
