Before the establishment of the State of Israel, Haganah was the provisional organization that provided for the protection of the Jewish community in Palestine. It was the forerunner of the Israeli Defense Forces. This museum, located in the house of one of Haganah’s founders, traces the history of Haganah, from the earliest defensive watch towers guarding 19th century farms, to the struggle for independence in the 1940s and its development as Israel’s modern army. There is brief background information in English. It is especially interesting when troops of young Israeli soldiers are brought through on educational tours.
