Of the many cafe/restaurants on Sheinkin Street, Orna and Ella is a longtime favorite and has the most devoted clientele. It’s famous for sweet-potato pancakes, delicious cheesecakes, pastries, brioche, and espresso, but there are also sandwiches, salads, pastas, and main courses like Moroccan fish cakes and a chicken curry with basmati rice. This is a place for meetings, wine, and long conversations, so lines sometimes stretch out the door. It’s both intimate and frenetic, and the waiters are charming and very Israeli.
