Head to the Mercado Municipal, open Monday through Saturday from 8am to 8pm and Sunday from 8:30am to 3pm, for a quick, inexpensive lunch at one of the market's dozen or so restaurants. To get there, enter at Portales at Bulnes or Aldunate streets. Waiters will harangue you until you're suckered into choosing their establishment, but the best bet is at La Caleta (Local 27). For sandwiches and other quick meals, try Casa D'Empanada's (no phone), at Mackenna 687.
