Arguably the Canary Islands' most famous attraction, Loro Parque began life as a parrot park and is now home to gorillas, chimpanzees, tigers, dolphins, penguins, sea lions and orcas as well as 4,000 parrots. A whole day is needed to come close to getting around the beautifully landscaped zoo if you want to catch the various animal shows as well. The most impressive part of the park is Planet Penguin, a man-made iceberg big enough for seagulls to fly around where it actually snows; it's a real home from home for the little guys who inhabit it.
