Sculptor Daniel Chester French, best known for the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., used this estate as his summer home for more than 30 years. His Minute Man statue at the Old North Bridge in Concord, completed in 1875 when the artist was 25 years old, launched his highly successful career. The 122-acre grounds are used for an annual show of contemporary sculpture. Entrance to the residence and studio is by guided tour only.
