A secluded, full-service resort, Wequassett has long been in the running for the title of top lodging on Cape Cod. Improvements in recent years have brought the number of restaurants to four, improved the kids’ play area, added a lap pool, and increased the size of the beach on Pleasant Bay. The resort’s guest rooms and suites, spread out in six buildings, are exceptionally comfortable and stylish—and at these prices, they should be. Rooms without bay views are cheaper but quite a bit less inviting. What guests are really paying for here are all the amenities. Besides the beach, the pools and the restaurants, there are four tennis courts and playing privileges at an exclusive nearby golf club (for $190 a round). The entire 27-acre property sits on a rise above the bay with eastward views beyond to the Atlantic Ocean. The inn’s skiff is available to take guests out to North Beach for a fee. Among the most special amenities here are the fine dining restaurant, 28 Atlantic, and the Outer Bar & Grill, by the pool. Both are exceptional.
