Funicular to Hrebienok
The funicular railway that begins just behind the Grandhotel Starý Smokovec and runs to Hrebienok station at 1,284m (4,212 ft.) is great fun for the whole family. You can use it to get an easy start on one of the great mountain hikes that lead off from here, or simply go up, walk around a bit, and come down. There's a small restaurant at the top where you can get a meal or a hot drink. For kids, in summer there's downhill tubing, and in winter, sledding.
