Planning a trip to Tlaxcala
Getting There & Departing -- A taxi ride from Puebla takes 30 to 40 minutes and costs 280 pesos. The bus takes an hour, costs 18 pesos, and leaves every 15 to 30 minutes from a station on 6 Poniente, between 11 Norte and 13 Norte.
Visitor Information -- Tlaxcala's tourist information office is at the intersection of avenidas Juárez and Lardizábal (tel. 01-800/509-6557 in Mexico, or 246/465-0900). Office hours are daily 9am to 7pm. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, it sponsors small bus tours of the city (in Spanish) that cost 20 pesos. It also offers a Sunday tour of the Cacaxtla site. Inquire at the office.

The telephone area code is 246. Most hotels have Internet access, but there is also free Wi-Fi on the main square, though it often isn't working. A number of small Internet cafes can be found within a couple blocks of the zócalo. The post office is on the main square beside the Hotel Posada San Francisco and is open from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
