This freshly completed 28-story hotel has some of the best amenities in the city. Jocks will appreciate the spectacular health club with high-tech machines that count reps while giving performance feedback. The three-story complex also boasts a spinning studio, two yogic sanctuaries (one hot, one not), a saltwater pool, nine squash courts, four tennis courts, a golf simulator, and a heap of motivating classes. If that isn’t enough, a second heated saltwater pool is situated on the top of the main hotel tower; it’s half outdoors, half indoors, and entirely fabulous. Parents, meanwhile, can drop the children off at the Kids Play Centre for a while—perhaps to make use of that fab gym. Wee ones (as young as 3 months) will be lavished over, while the older set can play ball hockey, basketball, and video games. Families also make great use of the 56-set screening room, where G-rated flicks are enjoyed with popcorn. Other stand-out amenities include an onsite art gallery dedicated to painter Neil Dankoff. The entire hotel is decorated with over 750 stunning Neil Dankoff landscape photos, so wandering the halls feels a bit like walking through an extended exhibition. Rooms have some of the best views in Toronto (and the floor-to-ceiling windows let you take it all in). To the east, downtown twinkles sans obstruction; to the south, Lake Ontario looks close enough to dive into. Although the hotel is well located for those with tickets to events at BMO Field or the Budweiser Stage, being situated on the Exhibition Place grounds means downtown is a 15-minute GO ride away. To make your stay seamless, Hotel X has two Audi SUVs on call to chauffeur guests (on a first come, first served basis) around downtown.
