In 2017, the Toronto Star called Godspeed’s launch the “most anticipated brewery opening of the year.” The brewery was a long time in the making. Originally, owner Luc Lafontaine had planned to open a brewery in Tokyo with his Japanese wife, Eri Kuramasu. Unfortunately, Japanese business bureaucracy is a bear for an international entrepreneur, so the two moved back to Canada and opened Godspeed. The 100-seat brewery pairs easy-sipping suds with Japanese comfort food.
