Planning a trip to Treasure Cay
Some direct service is available to the island from Florida. You can also fly into Marsh Harbour, on Great Abaco Island, and take a 32km (20-mile) taxi ride north along the paved but bumpy Sherben A. Boothe Highway.
Getting Around
Once you're on the island, renting a car isn't necessary. To get where you're going, you can walk, bike, or take a golf cart or a taxi. Some restaurants outside the resort will send a shuttle to pick you up from your hotel. You likely won't need a cab except to get between the airport or ferry dock and your hotel. For details about taxi fares, call the Treasure Cay Airport Taxi Stand (tel. 242/365-8661). For a special occasion, call Elegante Limo Service (tel. 242/365-8248 or 365-8053), which charges $120 per hour for up to 10 passengers; this company also rents golf carts.
The only real reason to rent a car is for the 35-minute drive to Marsh Harbour to catch the ferries to Elbow Cay and Man-O-War Cay. If you decide to do so, Cornish Car Rental, at Treasure Cay Airport (tel. 242/365-8623), charges about $75 to $85 a day.
Wendell's Bicycle Rentals (tel. 242/365-8687), across from the bank in the Treasure Cay shopping center, rents beach cruisers (single-gear bikes with wide wheels) and mountain bikes for $10 to $15 a day or $45 per week. Four-seater electric golf carts go for $42 a day or $258 a week at either Wendell's or Claridge Golf Carts (tel. 242/365-8248 or 365-8053), just outside town.
