Cathedral of St. Lawrence
Trogir’s undisputed centerpiece is the impressive Cathedral of St. Lawrence. Building began in 1213, with various details added through the centuries, so several styles can be identified here. The magnificent Romanesque portal is decorated with stone carvings, attributed to local sculptor Master Radovan, featuring characters from the Bible, along with scenes from medieval peasant life. Inside, the 15th-century Chapel of St. John was the creation of architect Nikola Fiorentinac, who also worked on Šibenik Cathedral after Juraj Dalmatinac’s death. Visitors can climb the Gothic-Renaissance bell tower, which stands 47m (154 ft.), for amazing views over Trogir’s old town.
