Despite the bustling location mere steps from Piazza Castello and the Palazzo Reale, the Townhouse is discreetly presented—there isn’t much signage outside (hint: it’s between a perfume shop and a housewares store). As part of a small Milan-based chain of luxury hotels, this is a smooth, urbane property. There’s a tiny aperitivo bar tucked in one corner of reception, and the breakfast room has only one massive table, where smart businesspeople and families all sit down together. Rooms, which are spacious for a city-center hotel, feature soothing dark colors; bathrooms have massive showers. Quieter bedrooms look over an internal courtyard (where you can grab a cocktail in warmer weather), but keep in mind that other guests may be able to look in when your shutters are open.
