With its wood-paneled walls and vintage sports photos on the wall, time seems to have stood still at this quintessential trattoria and bar (it is open all day for coffee and snacks as well) in the heart of the San Salvario neighborhood, about a 5-minute walk from Porta Nuova. But locals flock here for the down-home cooking more than the atmosphere: Italian comfort food staples like pasta e fagioli, Milanese cutlet, vitello tonnato (veal in a creamy tuna sauce), and risotto with saffron and toma cheese, all at incredibly reasonable prices. Unfortunately, you can’t reserve ahead of time.
