Iglesia de San Pablo
One of Úbeda’s oldest buildings, this beautiful church offers a primer on Spanish architectural styles. The front entrance, called the Carpenters’ Door, is Romanesque. The south portal, added in 1511, is in Isabelline Gothic style. The tower is Plateresque, resembling the work of a silversmith. Vandelvira himself designed one of the chapels, which are enclosed with fine wrought-iron grilles.
As you leave, stroll past the old town hall (Antiguo Ayuntamiento) in the corner of the square. It’s now a musical conservatory, from which lovely sounds waft.
