Planning a trip to Uberlingen
Tourist information is available at Landungsplatz 5 (tel. 07551/991122; www.ueberlingen.de), May to September Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm, Saturday 10am to 3pm, and Sunday 10am to 1pm; November to March Monday to Wednesday and Friday 9am to noon and 1 to 4pm, Thursday 9am to noon and 1 to 6pm; and April and October Monday to Friday 9am to noon and 1 to 5pm, and Saturday 10am to 1pm.
Getting There
By Train
Rail passengers are funneled through nearby Friedrichshafen, from where a smaller rail line goes through Überlingen to Radolfzell. Trains run in either direction along that line at hourly intervals throughout the day. Überlingen's railway station lies on the extreme western edge of town. By Bus
Regional bus service along Lake Constance is provided by RAB Regionalverkehr Alb-Bodensee GmbH in nearby Weingarten (tel. 0751/509220; www.zugbus-rab.de).
By Car
Überlingen is off Rte. 31, just north of Konstanz. From Stuttgart via Ulm, take Rte. 30 south, then Rte. 31 west at Friedrichshafen. From Munich, follow Autobahn 96 west/southwest to Lindau, then Rte. 31 west to Friedrichshafen and Überlingen.
By Boat
April to October, 8 to 10 ferryboats a day carry passengers to Überlingen from Konstanz (trip time: up to 2 hr.) for 9.50€ each way. For information, call the Weiss Flote, an armada of lake steamers maintained by the BSB Bodensee Schiffsbetriebe GmbH (tel. 07531/3640389; www.bsb-online.com). No cars are carried on any of these ferries.
