Taking up most of an island in the Middle Keys, this 60-acre spread specializes in families and in activities up the wazoo and down the reef. Besides sailing, fishing, snorkeling, diving, Snuba, waterskiing, kiteboarding, parasailing, and stand-up paddleboarding, guests can interact directly with dolphins in the Dolphin Connection program (reserve well in advance). Rooms have spacious bathrooms, Tommy Bahama–style furniture, and balconies with ocean or garden views; there are also 225 waterfront villas with full kitchens. The 7,000-square-foot spa provides stellar treatments, and kids’ activities include marine- and eco-inspired programs. Dining includes the nuevo-Latino Alma, with a bar featuring hard-to-find rums; the Beach Grill, featuring light fare; Ocean, the open-kitchen main restaurant; and Island Time, a shop including a Starbucks menu. Just as popular as the pools is a good-size lagoon where families can splash, kayak, and paddleboard.
